The system does not run slow but has about 12 rundll32 processes running as well as some other suspicious looking processes and IE is automatically started when XP boots. His system is running XP (although I didn't check the SP number)ΔΆ50 GB hard disk with plenty of free space
#MALWAREBYTES 3.1.2 ANTI VIRUS INSTALL#
What I would like to know, is how can I get to where I can install malwarebytes and other antivirus tools to eliminate the infection?
When the computer boots, it does not boot XP normally unless you boot it in safe more first and then restart it.
When I tried to download malwarebytes from cnet, when I would get to the download page, IE would redirect to a blank page. In fact anytime I would go to a symantec web page the browser would redirect. However when I would get to the web page for purchasing a license the IE would immediately redirect to a blank page. I didn't write down what they were unfortunately, but I tried to register the trail version so that I could use norton to remove at least some of the viruses. It completed a scan and found multiple trojans viruses. Since I was unable to install malwarebytes (or anything else) I tried running it. There is a trial copy of norton 360 on the computer already. The program tries to appear similar to norton 360 but it seems different and when it runs a scan it finishes in about a minute and half. There is a supposed virus program running that keeps issuing a warning that the computer is infected with a trojan virus, however the program looks suspicious. I tried rebooting and still windows wont run any. I tried running them from the desktop and from other locations and multiple user accounts including the administrator.

exe files for malwarebytes and hijackthis but windows would not run them. I restarted in safe mode with networking. There was simply the background with no shortcut icons or stat menu button. The first thing I attempted was to install malwarebytes and hijack this, however when I booted the computer XP would not fully boot up. Unfortunately he has no anti-virus or malware protection on his computer. He asked if I could help since I have experience removing viruses. I went to a friend's house yesterday because he said he received a message that he was infected with a trojan virus.
